Vor ein paar Wochen habe ich ein Video auf Reddit hochgeladen. YouTube Link eigentlich. Es zeigte das skalierte Modell des Universums und des engsten Sterns. Ich beschloss, einen Kurzfilm zu veröffentlichen, der nur zeigt, wie weit der nächste Stern sein würde.

If the sun were the size of a golf ball, the next star would be 1200 miles away.
If the sun was a grain of sand, the next closest grain of sand would be 2 miles away.
I did an analogous demonstration for an elementary class in western NC once. In a large room, the sun was represented by a beach ball against one wall. Earth was a BB sized sphere near the opposite wall. The other planets (not explicitly depicted) were way out in the parking lot or dozens of yards down the hill. And then I told them: Alpha Centauri is in Chicago!
If the diameter of the Milky Way was the width of the US, the Sun would be 1/3 the size of a red blood cell. Got this from an epic spaceman video on YT, and it blows my mind. Space is preposterously big.
