      Cue the supreme court ruling that the president can mobilize troops in case of an invasion, so when the president orders an invasion, he gets the power to order an invasion.

      Sounds right. An unwanted military exerting control over your territory would technically be an ‚invasion.‘

      And what does he intend to do about it? Because if the answer is „saying angry words to the press“ that’s gonna accomplish fuck all.

      Unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions. Governors have the power to command their national guard too. Like much of the nation, Illinois has laws about unauthorized militias or illegal paramilitary activity. So, if Trump sends troops, first issue orders to the Guard to stand down, then declare anyone still moving to be an illegal militia.

      Yeah, that’s a HUGE crisis, but so was sending troops to do domestic law enforcement in the first place and attempting to usurp control of the national guard. The state constitution is clear on who runs national guard operations inside Illinois borders and it isn’t Trump.

      JD should make it illegal to provide any logistical support to the invaders. Also make it illegal for the invaders to carry supplies across state lines unless invited

      Trump doesn’t understand the Chicago spirit. There are around 9.5 million people in the greater Chicago area and the team spirit will not permit a stupid worm to try to take over their lives.
