      US Constitution, Article 1, Section 8: „The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States“

      Seems pretty clear to me.

      Remember Trump is technically claiming a national emergency of fentanyl, trade deficit, and declining manufacturing. Which is how he is using the International Emergency Economics Powers Act.

      It’s supposed to be used against specific nations we might be in conflict with, or punishing nations that are committing horrible crimes and not allowing their leaders to launder their wealth through the US.

      If SCOTUS allows this then they are opening the door for him to use even more emergency powers on made up things, which is very bad news for everyone.

      To the Supreme Court, who will:

      A- Say „No bad Trump, stop“ the base will get riled up and he’ll just do it again and everyone will bitch and moan and we’ll do this all over again because the media has the same attention span of it’s viewers/readers

      or

      B- They’ll twist and shout and find a way to fuck over everyone for no gain to anyone cuz „shrug“ and we’ll keep falling into more dumb shit.

      My guess is A because it keeps everyone off the PDF files. The larger fire he can make to distract from the other fire the better for him.

      4 years of „do it and ask questions later policy“. They realized everything they want to do is illegal, but it might take just long enough for them to make billions while the rulings trickle in.

      Let’s just get it to the Supreme Court so they can rule in his favor and then, when (I mean, if it ever happens again) a democrat gets in office they can overturn their previous ruling. Basically, we are fucked for the next 50 years, unless we expand the court. Trump is an idiot, but his handlers aren’t dumb. They appointed young justices for this reason explicitly.

      Correct, overly broad tariffs are in fact, a National Sales Tax. Such a tax requires Congressional approval, which Trump does not have. It’s the Mainstream Media’s endless sanewashing and refusal to call a spade a spade for how we got here.

      I sort of hope he has to carry tariff policies full term. He shouldn’t get to abort this terrible economic policy.

      If the courts make him reverse it he will have something to blame.
