Soooo, the private sector makes money and then it’s a public or non-profit organization that is in charge or cleaning up the bad investments/mess?

Does this means that a few years ago, a specific provincial government was being „trigger happy“ in distributing exploitation licenses without even bothering to look if there was a sound business plan in the first place?

Isn’t it at a new all time high every day? Tomorrow will be higher than today, next week will be higher than this week, so on and so forth ?

How a company gets to make money, declare bankruptcy and leave a huge environmental hazard for others to clean up is beyond me.
Tell me why this shouldn’t (A) block bankruptcy proceedings and (B) result in criminal charges if pursued anyway.
And this, dear audience, is an example of what regulatory capture does. Privatize the profits, socialize the costs.
hey who needs schools, public healthcare, covid vaccines, library books or money for people w disabilities when there are so many orphans to take care of in Alberta. good on the UCP for having their priorities straight and keeping royalties low. those orphan wells need someone to care for them!
This is the result of giving away all the private profit and keeping all the cost for public sector. It is hideous policy made so the rich can get all the benefit and the poor get to cover the environmental costs.
It is idiotic.
