Buffer Zone is only acceptable on the Russian side of the border.

Yeah right. The EU ain’t gonna pony up the military presence to establish and maintain it, and Putin will never agree to US soldiers to sit a handful of KM away from Russia all day and night. Its more empty talking like the rest of it.

Since there will be zero chance Ukraine will do the invasion, the buffer should be created within Russian border.

–1st – all these talks are blah-blah, because Putin wants to occupy the entire Ukraine. The question for now should be „how to stop Putin“, not „what do we do after we might stop Putin in the far future“.
–2nd – this empty zone is gonna be taken by Russians immediately. Or who will forbid them and how? And from this zone they will attack nearby villages, do provocations (as they were doing before the war, and our soldiers couldn’t shoot back to „not to provoke conflicts“). And defence of this zone they will call „Ukrainian provocations“ and it may be a reason for a new war (like, again it was before 2022).

Like south and north Korea?

Yep, on the Russian side of the border. And hopefully it’ll include plans to root out the FSB from the civilian population.

If the buffer isn’t 40 km on the Russian side from pre-2014 borders I don’t want to hear about it.
But I’ll support Ukraine with any agreement they want.

What about the people who live in the demilitarised zone? Would they be displaced?
