Are you doing your part? What’s your average commute? Personally I do 1h15 per trip.
About an hour one way for me.
Thank god I WFH four days a week.
This is one of those cases where the average doesn’t say much. It’s actually pretty low, with less than half an hour for a single trip. I live very close to my work, about 10 km, but it still takes about half an hour, whether I go by car or by bike. Bus slightly longer. It would be more interesting to take a look at the percentage of the population that travels more than an hour single trip, and the distribution.
I do between 55 mins during schoolvacations and 1h45 on a normal weekday. Guess where I work.
Around 1h15min single trip. Luckily we only go once a month to the office. All other days are working from home.
I used to commute 2h a day… Changed job and now its 10 min 🙂 that includes going home during lunch to walk the dog
It depends: if I take my car it’s 50 minutes roundtrip.
If I take my foldable bike and train, it’s more like 1h40 roundtrip.
Honestly that’s pretty low, it seems around me it’s mostly 1h per trip or more, luckily not every day
35 min bike ride one way. I wouldn’t want my commute to be more than 50 min really.
This is the one thing my wife (Polish) absolute hates and doesn’t understand about Belgium: we live in one city, then go to work in *another* city.
To this day, I don’t have any explanation for it, other than that it happens because it’s kind of possible. In many other countries the every major cities are 5 hours apart (figure of speech) with nothing in between, so there’s not really any sense in commuting far. In Belgium, no matter where you live, you’ll have way more job opportunities if you’re willing to commute for an hour than if you strictly want to stay within a 15 minutes radius.
Yay for tiny towns and lintbebouwing everywhere.
When I have to drop the kids off at school, it takes me about 25 minutes. During school holidays, it’s 10 minutes.
Less than five minutes on foot.
Can’t imagine living with a commute that’s bigger than 15mins.
