*“I met Gerasimov and Shoigu [Valery Gerasimov and Sergei Shoigu, at the time Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and Russian Minister of Defence – EP].*

***Do you feel you failed in any way at that time?***

*I went with Ben Wallace, the UK defence secretary. There were some elements of those conversations that we would keep private. But I’m not too sure that we failed.*

*We were really clear in telling Russia that we knew what they were envisaging, and telling them that if they proceeded with their plans, it would be a disaster for Russia. And this has been a disaster for Russia.“*

Interesting, I actually had no idea this happened.

    2. *Some* people support his views. Because a great many *don’t.*

Edit: fuck off downvoting this. Every single person downvoting this is stupid and hurting Ukraine. You should *want* to support Russian dissent.

The Russians needs a bloody nose, the same way Germany got one during/at the end of World War 2. I dont see them change their ways if a ceasefire is called and their soldiers can just slither back home

Oh, any person fluent in Russian knows that yeah, it’s true, they support this. Posts, videos on FB and TikTok – you name it.

And it’s not new. During Soviet Union times Ukrainians (as well as other nations than Russians) were looked down at, their culture criticized and simplified, languages ridiculed. They support this because they were told that they are better somehow, title nation, and all others need to bow. For them Ukraine is out of line and needs to be punished.

Would be like saying Americans support the killing of a million Iraqis or the numerous war crimes Israel commit through American tax dollars. But alas the same grace isn’t afforded to non Anglo-sphere countries

I feel like the title is true. Every Russian I come across in Counter Strike who I tell “Slava Ukraini” retorts with various swears

Only because, if they don’t support it, they get thrown out a window.

    8. Putin is at the core of this war, but people in this administration support his views

    9. No they don’t, ruzzians dont support this. They are afraid to say otherwise and with good reason.

    10. Russians have too support Putin they live there and don’t have anything better to do.  Russia needs new leadership.

    11. I mean, they are forced to do it. It’s not really a democracy, even their neighbours will rat them if they are anti war/regime. Let’s be real, no one here would sacrifice their life, they’d rather wait it out. Most russians I got to know are not fans of the regime but they are silent.

The true majority might be pro regime unironically but that’s easy to do when your education is shit and you get sold the great empire dream. Their musical artists also sold out for the easy money.

    12. What happened in Russia is happening in the USA, open your eyes, Russia to corrupt the USA by manipulating. And by electing a man who has the same ideas as Putin, WWII is now prehistory, we are faced with the most massive struggle between East and West
Between autocracy and democracy. And this time there will be no USA to defend Europe, the only way to stop this is to create a real military Europe that will have to face the USA, Russia and China who want to divide the world to the detriment of Europe

Well the Russians that do object vocally have a weird habit of dying so…

……I don’t believe that Russians in Russia support Putin and the war like it is reported. These are not people with any kind of freedom, economic or political. They have lived for generations with a secret police that murders and jails them for ANY reasons. Any questioned Russian that is polled on this matter only has one choice to answer…..

    15. TLDR Russian population supports the rape, murder, infanticide, genocide, torture, and eradication of Ukrainian culture. I support Ukrainian defence with my efforts and money.

Every „subjugated“ peoples (of which Russians are seen to be, when you read any comments), has had no hope, no wealth, no obvious way to overcome their dictator or King or coloniser…. yet many cultures have done this.

Russians are not subjugated into silence and fear over condemning their army murdering in Ukraine.

Russians are not using the „advantage“ of their army and leaders occupied in their illegal war to pull down their tzar and bourgeois elite.

Russians simply don’t care about Ukrainian lives and do support rape, murder, infanticide, genocide, torture, and eradication of Ukrainian culture.

I thought otherwise in February 2022 and offered to help Russians in Moscow and St Petersburg, I initially thought they didn’t trust communications and had to „toe the putin line“ in fear of arrest. These were people who travelled and lived in Europe.

      I was very wrong.

Now I actively support the defence of Ukraine with my money and effort because fuck those Russians murdering cunts.

Oh and bots, no need to debate this, I’ll be having a shit instead of engaging with you.

    16. While it’s true that there are plenty of people who don’t vocally support Putin’s views that group of people are almost exclusively either in prison or inclined to spontaneously jump out of windows – so clearly they’re mentally unfit and their opinions shouldn’t be counted!

Well about a million russians left the country shortly after the full scale invasion too so

It’s either support Putin views or find your ass on the front line in Ukraine
