This isn’t about road safety or the use of parks or whatever other excuses are floating out there.
Why not go a step further and ban political rallies? If they don’t like to hear prayers cause it hurts their „conscience“, Then I don’t want to hear their hurtful political rallies.
Ya know what awkward. Swimming at a public beach and the local church bus pulling up and unloading everyone so they can participate in a beach/river baptism.
Seen it twice in the last 4 years.

Give the politicans absolute power to suppress religious minorties with the notwithstanding clause, and they will use it in raw show of political power. Next they will make it illegal to speak English in public.
Image the damage that can be done by a person walking down the street with a rosary, quietly praying.
I get it Quebec Government, you’re into secularism even if all your citizens are not. Secularism has in fact, and in a very perverse way, become the religion of the Quebec government – a government whose ‚Minister of Secularism‘ proudly preaches on the proliferation of street prayer as a serious issue.
They need to ban themselves, and let people pray in the way that their hearts call for.
Theres this group of crazy evangelicals praying every night near the entrance of the abandoned Hudson’s Bay Department store in Montreal. I hope they don’t get a pass 👀
I mean..public prayer is supposed to be almost a sin itself right? You’re only praying to yourself to get attention so I dont see an issue here.
Yeah… This is directly an attack on the Muslim faith and specifically about the Pro-Palestinian Protests that happened in Montreal.

I’m not even religious and even I know that the Muslim faith requires you to pray five times a day no matter where you are (as long as it’s clean and you are able to)…
This is just ~~racism~~ religious discrimination being „hidden“ behind secularism. Nobody is organizing prayer events in the streets, they were protesting the conditions and acts in Gaza and the time came for them to do their prayer so they did them in the street which was already blocked off for the protests.
As I watch freedom and liberty going down the tubes in the U.S., I see this being proposed here in Canada and I have to ask myself, what in the hell are we doing here?!?!?

Religious freedom as a concept didn’t come from nowhere and was quite a costly thing to achieve. Do we really want to go back to the middle ages and the wars of religion? Because that’s where we’re headed with nonsense like what’s being proposed here.

They want to ban people peacefully praying and not those crazy loud ass street preachers with speakers. (Who are actually a nuisance) It’s fucking clear that they’re targeting Muslims.
The dictionaries must say something different in French, because last I checked, this is the opposite of neutrality. And while I’m at it I should also point out that the idea that (children) seeing people wearing religious symbols is „indoctrination“ is hypocritical bull—-. Pigeonholing religion and actively suppressing its visibility is simply „indoctrinating“ people to a specific view of religion, and anyone who blames religion for any particular problem in society is frankly delusional because none of those problems are limited to ‚religious communities.‘
Quebec seems to get a lot of loving on here, presumably because it’s a huge region of support for the LPC.
But I’ve always been really uncomfortable about the amount of control the provincial government seems to want to exercise over the lives of its inhabitants.
Clearly unconstitutional, discriminatory and an inexcusable suppression of free expression.
Clearly wrong and should be political career ending to even suggest it.
It’s wild what an insane police state Quebec is becoming under this government.
First it was just the state harassing public employees, but now the state is reaching into what every day people do simply existing outside. Incredible stuff.
