Of course. Because Canadians love it when they are told what to do and how to think by the government. How exactly would this regulation of AI happen? Any foreign AI slop is IP banned like how they do things in North Korea and Iran?
Guess what. If a horse is dancing with an alligator, it was made by AI. It’s not that hard to figure out a deepfake if you do a few moments of critical thinking.

AI absolutely needs to be regulated. The problem is whether government is competent enough in understanding it to actually do it.
Maybe the answer is some sort of commission with actual experts but with some level of involvement and oversight by government to ensure they’re in pursuit of mandate aligned to people’s best interest
