Britain, France, and Germany are expected to start the UN „snapback“ process against Iran as early as Thursday, citing violations of the 2015 nuclear agreement. This means the reinstatement of particularly painful sanctions on the Iranian economy, which is already on the brink of collapse.

The process takes 30 days and “there is scope for further diplomacy in the coming weeks,” the sources say.
