You missed „in the United States“ from your title.
Dunno how online interviews can be nationally representative, I’m not from the US but do over 2/3 of Americans support gay marriage?

Usually, when you have an y-axis, and you draw little dashes on it, and you write number values right next to the dashes, it means that that value is true at that position on the axis. Since you’re not doing that, and the percentages represent the size of the bars, you shouldn’t use dashes. The chart will confuse people.
Oooof. I’ve just realised those are series value markers at the start and end of the time period, and not axis scale markers. That, and they’re the value for the total, despite appearing at the mid point of the series.
I’d change outside the axis back to standard 0-100% scale markers, and bring the value markers inside the plot. Maybe add a 50% marker line across the middle, and bring the skipped/refused back in. Additional issue is that you’re taking a ten survey trailing average, when the time between surveys has been flexible. So some of these points are one year averages, and others are 3 year averages.
Very quick Excel job – changed to averages of any surveys in the previous 366 days for each calendar month.
