Democrats have flipped a state Senate seat in Iowa. The district swung 21% to Dems today compared to last November.

There have been 4 special elections this year in Iowa and all 4 have swung more than 20% towards Ds.

Reminder that Iowa was one of the first states to legalize same sex marriage.

I’m guessing the Rs saw this coming. Its likely why Trump spent today strong arming Indiana ars to gerrymander their US House districts.

Democrats have increasingly been doing better in Special Elections and this one is no exception so I wasn’t that surprised she won but yeah this is due to Democrats doing better among High Propensity Voters and Low Propensity Voters that went for Trump staying home so even if Democrats won’t win all the Special Elections they will definitely perform better than expected in many of them.

God, let this be a sign of good things to come. Fuck MAGA, fuck Trump, and may this be the beginning of the death of the “Conservative” (Ie: Regressive) party.

There will be no safe Republican seats in 2026 and 2028. Republicans will do anything to stay in power, I would not be surprised if Trump tries to throw out the election in 2026 and if he can’t he will try to dissolve the Senate and House

When Trump isn’t on the ballot, the GOP has struggled. They just simply don’t get the same turnout and demographics that they do when Trump is running.
