What can we even do at this point? Even @ 20% it would have priced out Indian goods. Just hit us with tariffs and get it over with. It will hurt India for a couple of quarters but markets will readjust and we can manage it domestically.

It is not clear how India can resist this pressure.
It probably needs to do what Russia did-find a proxy country (which has small trade with the US, and therefore the risks of high tariffs are minimal) through which to trade with Russia, while not having direct contact.
This will not reduce the risk that Trump will not impose increased tariffs under another reason, but it will give some time to Indian government to come up with protection mechanisms.

I’m glad to see that the new generation of Indians is finally getting to see the true face of the US administration. The mask it once wore can no longer hide it from the people. Trump has put it out all in the open what the thugs from state department used to do behind closed meeting rooms.

big countries never fight with each other but attack other small nations who have association with their ‚enemy‘. Although India is not small country number wise, it is still treated as such when it comes to biggies US and Russia
