I’m honestly not all that surprised that this has happened.
But I thought it was supposed to be a peaceful movement aimed at encouraging national unity?
It’s the same men from yesterday when they were being filmed being racist to their coloured neighbours in front of children.
It has nothing to do with them painting the flags on the walls and everything to do with them being pieces of shit.
At least they gave the Browshirts a hot meal after their marches, these wankers are unpicking the threads of civil society for free.
Anyone who is at all fond of the flag should be furious at its desecration, St George’s cross will be political poison for years now
It’s a low bar to not film yourself shouting racist abuse at people while painting crosses on private property & then posting it on social media.
No doubt the usual lot will be calling them political prisoners & martyrs before too long.
The men were objectively racist and should be dealt with appropriately by the law.
Their flag painting skills are also evidently amateurish, at the level of a nursery child.
That said, they’re not racist for having any associations with the national flag but because of their behaviour – it sets a dangerous precedent to link the flag with racism, and we’ll end up in a situation where more people feel disenfranchised as a result of this emerging social narrative.
From my perspective, the flag doesn’t belong to a single individual or group and has unifying properties. If we imbibe this spirit, then it will weaken the small subset of individuals who cause trouble.
It would be a great shame if people stopped displaying the flag just because of a minority of mindless thugs.
The the usual attempt by the rich & powerful to blow up isolated incidents and paint tens of thousands of peaceful legitimate protesters as obscene racists. Mass-immigration benefits the rich and hurts the poor, so anyone protesting its effects: ever-rising rent / housing costs, decreased pay / worker rights, breaking of community spirit, increased consumer base & consumerism, must be a knuckle-dragging racist and ignored. Just look at this one video as proof, ignore referendum results and all the thousands of peaceful protestors!
Edit: This thread is a great example of how effective their strategy is, getting the public to campaign for the status quo, an exact replica of the constant mention of Just Stop Oil in right-wing social media to discredit all environmental campaigners.
I mean they are clearly a thick bunch, posting incriminating evidence of you and your mates is always a dumb move. No one to blame but themselves.
It’s a good job it’s an easy image to paint. They’d struggle with anything with more than 2 lines.
This isn’t even new. Does anyone else remember back in the 90s/early 00s when football hooliganism was more rife and russian hooligans were flying at George’s flags. Beyond that it is a dog whistle to the crusades. Unfortunately the flag of st George has xenophobia and „England for the English“ baked in.
I am sure there are plenty of people who think the flag should be up more who are not hate filled folk, but those i know who have been going on about it the most also just happen to hold views pumped full of hatred for others….
Inflamatory headline. The flag wasnt the racist part, the hurling racist abuse was the racist part.
I find it mental that we are trying to tie our own countries flag to racism.
Any headline that says „x arrested *after* x happened“ is probably less than 50:50 whether x is the real reason, or just that two things happened consecutively (in this case they shouted racial abuse at a mother and child passing by after painting the „flags“).
It’s a headline trick used by editors to get the reaction they want. It’s becoming a new Betteridge’s law.

Hanging up flags and painting them with correct permission is absolutely fine.
Trying to use flags to intimidate people makes you an absolute bellflick.
These tools are utter scum. Thick as shit and the complete opposite of patriots. They should be ashamed of their actions
I’m out of the loop but I’ve suddenly seen a lot of St. George’s cross flags appearing on lamp posts and overpasses and someone sprayed “stop the boats” on a nearby bus stop. What’s this all in aid of and what started it?
