      The Pentagon has been planning to send the military to Chicago for weeks, The Washington Post reported. The deployment would be part of Donald Trump‘s show of force against Democratically-run cities. The military’s actions in Chicago could then be a blueprint for rolling out similar occupations in other cities, officials told the paper.

      Military leaders have considered multiple plans of action for Chicago, including sending thousands of National Guard troops in September. They have also considered sending active-duty troops to Chicago, although that outcome is less likely, sources told the Post.

      What would be the legal justification? In LA, they could say the ICE protests were disrupting the Federal Government’s ability to enforce its laws (total BS), but what would they say here? Where is the so called „rebellion“? Before anyone says „laws and the Consitution no longer matter“, that’s not my argument. My argument is, without even a sniff of a reason this is just a planned invasion and there is no world in which the Governor shouldn’t have already deployed the National Guard to protect the state and citizens.

      The authority Trump has to do this sort of thing is limited to declaring an emergency under the Insurrection Act.

      „Planning for weeks“ all but proves there isn’t an actual emergency.

      The governors of these states, and the mayors of these cities, should not recognize any orders to deploy the National Guard or military within their borders as legitimate. In addition to suing the second an order is given, they should instruct all state and local law enforcement that there is NO legal authority for the National Guard or military to act there. Any military personnel should be treated the same as civilians – require permits to carry weapons, arrested for assault if they handle people on the streets, etc.

      First LA and no one cared. Then DC and people raised their eyebrows. Next, every major city in the US. Wake tf up! Using our own military in our own streets is something no one would have allowed 25 years ago. It would be unthinkable. Now its political? We have officially gone too far. Its enough. We must do everything we can to resist, voting, denying hate a voice by not acting irrationally. We need to rise above this timeline and turn things around and it is each one of us and our votes that matter. Vote with your wallets and in the booths.

      Everybody please realize that if active duty becomes involved it’s a whole different ball game. I was AD for ten years and can assure you there is a HUGE difference between NG/Reserve troops and AD troops. Yes, plenty came from AD, but the mindset is entirely different between the groups. A lot of AD doesn’t want to be there, they are one enlistment and done for college money, or just made a decision at 18 they now regret. Others stay because they are afraid of job prospects outside and don’t want to give up their now decent NCO paychecks and housing allowance.

      On the other hand, the NG/Reserve guys by and large like dressing up one weekend month to play soldier. In my anecdotal experience, they were much more likely to be boot lickers, and were generally quite incompetent compared to AD troops. Yes, there’s plenty of boot licking AD troops too, but don’t think for a second that there isn’t going to be a lot of mutiny happening if AD troops are ordered to do things they disagree with.

      I’m sure there will be a lot of fun responses to this, but if you never did a full AD enlistment please kindly shut the fuck up because you have no idea what you are talking about.

      If I were such a governor I’d be figuring out who was loyal to the constitution vs who isn’t … sequester the members of the guard that stand with trump … assign them to sweep dirt off a dirt hill for 3 years or something ….. then go ahead and call up the guard loyal to the constitution and being ready to use force, prevent them from entering the state

      I’d do the same to the state police, use them to assist. I’d probably also be making calls to the governors and heads of nearby places to gain support. Maybe even a wealthy financier

      The US Military has betrayed America and the US Constitution. We live in scary times. If you serve the US Military, you’re no longer American.

      It’s time for the press and independent media to approach these soldiers and ask them if they feel like traitors. Ask them if they fear Americans are growing to distrust our military and even hate them for what looks like is the beginning of a military coup being put in place to seize control of states and prevent Trump’s removal and enable his third term.

      I’d really be interested to see the press ask these soldiers what they think because i dont think citizens are going to feel comfortable living under US Military, armed soldiers as their new police.
