She absolutely bag fumbled her career in a couple months. She capitalized on her image and made a bunch of money, but no one will take her seriously as an actress anymore. She just sold her fucking bathwater.
It’s wild seeing her career arc trajectory from what it could’ve been after Euphoria to what it looks like now.

Americana was just dropped into the lowest amount of theaters for a wide release.
Eden I don’t even recall seeing any commercials for this film and it had Ron Howard directing with Jude Law staring.
These two films were gonna bomb regardless of her status in the film or not.
Honestly she is a bad actress in general. I’ve seen her in a few tv shows and she has an expressionless face. Just blank eyes and a slack face. She gets parts because of her looks.

Wasn’t these things filmed years ago and released aster the drama to capitalize on it?

Nothing against her, I couldn’t care less about the AE stuff, but she’s not a leading actress. And that’s fine.
Didn’t know she had another movie coming out this week, and I live in LA and work in the industry. Marketing for movies, other than horror and tentpoles, has been awful for quite some time.

I really liked Eden, and she was very good in it. Ana de Armas was amazing (I never realized she was that talented), but Vanessa Kirby was the GOAT, she is just magnetic and commanding on screen. 6,5/10
Are they marketing these movies? Seems minimal.
To be fair on Eden, Sweeney is probably the sixth-most famous person involved in that film, so it’s more of a Ron Howard-Jude Law-Ana de Armas-Vanessa Kirby-Daniel Bruhl bomb before it’s a her bomb.
Maybe she should do a action comedy with Kevin Sorbo, Dean Cain and John Voight. The „Fantastic Bore“?

Even before this Jeans stuff, I thought the opinion on Sydney Sweeney was her acting ability was okay at best, and she got by on her looks.

Eden was decent, not great. It’s a bit of a slog but has all round good performances, and I’d go as far as to say Sydney Sweeney’s is one of the better ones (if you can look past her wavering germanesque accent). It is however the kind of film that doesn’t do well in cinema these days, not grand enough for the big screen.
I’ve saw Eden at TIFF a year ago, I loved it. Sydney was perfectly fine in it. Ron Howard directed, Jude Law is in it too. Not sure why they aren’t pushing it, but they definitely aren’t. To be fair, it’s an art house movie that they are barely even promoting.

Well she can’t act very well. She was probably the best actor in her high school drama club and didnt grow much after.
I mean, whatever your opinions on Sweeney, I really don’t think these movies’ failures are all on her.
And it kind of undermines any actual criticisms of her someone might have if people just start to blanket blame her for every unsuccessful project she’s in. She just accepts roles in not great movies, that’s independent of whatever her politics are and these bombs are unlikely to have anything to do with the American Apparel ad or the MAGA party.

Her acting isn’t authentic lol. They made a poor choice choosing her and them bombing had nothing to do with that ae commercial. Her support comes from a certain % of the male population that would never care to actually see one of these movies.
