News snippet: One of Graham Platner’s high school yearbooks shows him babyfaced with a buzzcut, holding a sign proclaiming, in part: “Free Palestine.” The image is accompanied by a superlative his classmates bestowed upon him: “Most Likely To Start A Revolution.”

“Well see!” Platner wrote on X Thursday, posting a photo of the yearbook page, in a post that’s been viewed 4.5m times. Now bearded, burly and tattooed, with a sweep of dirty blond hair above a sunburnt face, Platner still believes in a free Palestine. He also thinks it’ll take something revolutionary to save the US, so earlier this week, when the oysterman announced his candidacy to be the next US senator from Maine, he pulled no punches.

Thank goodness for new faces in the democratic party.

      „I wish him well, frankly“

Sorry, that’s the same phrase used by Donald Trump on Ghislane Maxwell as she was sent to prison after being convicted of being a pimp for his pedophile sex gang. Just thought I’d mention that

I saw his interview on The Majority Report.

He seems like the real deal.

Does he have any suggestions for what Democrats should be doing? *checks notes*
      No. It’s just feels.

Ha ha ha . The oyster man probably fancies himself as a progressive . Also known as a dem-socialist commy .

We need more working class independent candidates in statewide races. Democrats are mostly consultant elites and Republicans are Trump Magas. Dan Osborn came close in November for the Nebraska Senate race with 47% vote. He’s running again. I don’t see Establishment Democrats can flip these red states at this point. Only independent candidates have any chance in states

Just because the democrats have run a shit campaign doesn’t excuse the millions of Americans that voted for Trump and republicans

    8. The American citizens gave ALL the power to one political party than start complaining that the other side doing NOTHING cause they have NO power in anyway other than speeches why cause you didn’t give them the power it a Cause and Effect if you think about it

He is having a volunteer meeting tomorrow night, go to the website and volunteer. Remote is ok, meetings, calls….. if 125 million Americans voted for every democrat on 11/3/26 and the dems had an overwhelming victory, Graham most likely may be the only dem that wants to solve the problem and hopefully inspire others! (they have demoted AOC and Bernie to fund raisers not legislatures!)

    10. There is something REALLY off about this guy and his story. I hate to hate on anyone who could unseat that absolute pile of garbage Susan Collins, but this guy feels like a total plant to me.

    11. Silly-Airline124 on

Honestly curious what the folks cheering this guy think Democrats should be doing that they aren’t or haven’t done after 10 years of MAGA the failure of the resistance movement to mobilize voters to the polls to win in 2024?

    12. This is the type of candidates that Dems need to be running. I’m sick of the mealy mouthed wonky policy shit, that has no place on a campaign trail in a post-2016 world, we need moral clarity, a laser focus on what’s hurting the average American, and most importantly a willingness to exercise power to ensure that their policies are implemented to deliver for their voters

    13. Ok-Bunch2258 on

      Damn!

I hope he wins and the rest of the Democratic party takes note!

And kicks that Trump enabling Susan Collins to the curb!

      >Democrats thought they had a real shot to unseat Collins in 2020. Sara Gideon raised $40m more than Collins, and polls showed Gideon in the lead, but she still lost by nine points in a state her fellow Democrat, [Joe Biden](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/joebiden), won handily.

How the fuck do you lose to Susan Collins?!

    14. This is what we need. People we can all get behind. Fuck all these fake ass politicians.

Yeah. The DNC is really fucking things up right now- it’s a bit infuriating.

The old guard of the Democratic Party is full of enrichers, people who got into their position to milk it financially and for prestige. They lack the passion for anything else than furthering their career and enlarging their bank account. And even more important, their intentions makes them spineless disappointments. They are the wrong people for the job and even more so in these times.

The Democratic Party’s old guard needs to be kicked out and replaced with people that actually care about their job, the people that they represent, and the country.

    17. Free_Accident7836 on

This guy is a douche and he is going to lose a seat that we absolutely need to win

    18. Wait ‚til he realizes they’re not just ‚dong jack‘, but actively facilitating fascism by running interference on anyone who would actually address it.

    19. The democrats are enriching themselves by the downfall of democracy, not jack

    20. Uncreative-Name on

I feel like I read this exact article every year. They’ll put up some blue collar challenger in a Senate race. Commenters all say „This is the type of person they need to start winning elections.“ They raise a shitload of money, then lose by 10 points..

    21. Think?..

It’s apparent that the average person in the United States has NO representation. Not from the Democrats. Not from the Republicans. They’re both a bunch of rich bureaucrats fooling us all to fill their pockets and serve their special interests.

To institute fairness – Make lobbying highly illegal. Put Congress people in jail who allow it/participate in it. Term limits are a must. Perhaps, if the road isn’t so golden we will have better candidates who will make people their priority.

When was the last time you heard a politician talking about controlling the cost of healthcare? Providing access to healthcare. Improving infrastructure, and mass transit. Things like that, that matter to people.

Democrats are in the minority in every branch of government. WTF are they supposed to do.
