
Ich fand diese alte E -Mail -Tasche in einem Secondhand -Geschäft in Massachusetts. Ich fand es interessant, also nahm ich es nach Hause und wusch es (es ist nass auf dem Bild). Hat jemand Informationen darüber, wann diese verwendet wurden und was genau? Es werden einige online als „Vintage Mail -Taschen“ verkauft, aber es werden keine anderen Informationen bereitgestellt. I think they were still in use during the 90s, maybe even into the early 2000s. Nowadays they’ve got those heavy-duty yellow plastic crates that everybody seems to have one at home of, even though it says „Eigentum der Deutschen Post“ at the side. Go figure. :p
I can’t tell you much about how old it is, but I guess the mailbag is from before 1995, because that’s when the „Deutsche Bundespost“ was privatized and became „Deutsche Post AG“. Before that it was state owned.
The number on top (32) is for areas where the zip code starts with that number. The number on the bottom (86) is an internal ID for a certain post office. And the number next to those (2) is the number of the bag.
The zip codes back then had 4 digits unlike now with 5 digits. I tried to determine the area, but I get different answers when asking google…
