    1. It’s classy, we aren’t one of those countries that plaster it outside every house and dumb it down.

    2. I think we need an update or a redesign. Maybe when we’re a united island or something. Some redesigns look class

It’s grand but even an update on the proportions or something would be nice

I saw heaps of them all over Drumcondra yesterday. What was that all about?

    4. I’m not a fan of the new flag. It’s all about religions that hardly anyone cares about anymore, that were only ever used to divide people in the first place.

I’d prefer the harp, or even the starry plough, or something new and outside of the protestant versus catholic divide.

It would have been a perfect flag for a united Ireland

      Green for Ireland

      Orange for the north

White for the peace between them.

I think thats the way it goes, but the North would never accept that flag (because they consider it a South Ireland flag). they would want a new flag now.

Maybe take out the white just green and orange (maybe a harp in the centre or Ireland the island in the centre). What do you think.

We need to start bringing it to positive, friendly, open minded stuff more prominently again. I find it depressing the way the Irish flag’s being cooped into a hate symbol by those far right groups. If we don’t, it won’t be long before the flag’s seen as a symbol of xenophobia, which would be a very sad state of affairs.

    7. I’m not patriotic at all but I always loved the fact that the flag was associated with happy times like Italia 90, St Patrick’s day parades, wiping the floor in the Eurovision. Flags being waved around by pissed up lads having the craic.

It’s sickening seeing it being waved at anti immigrant marches and protests. It’s not Irish to be anti immigration. Even if you have concerns about the governments approach to refugees don’t fucking wave that flag around like it’s inherently Irish to congregate to spread fear and anger about disadvantaged people.

It’s exactly why I’m not patriotic, even a country as small as Ireland is chock full of fucking idiots.
