Their only takeaway is going to be for them is that it was Trumps fault and that’s it. They will pretend their Trump-like talking points were okay, their weak responses were fine, their anti trans stances were perfect.
I just don’t think the modern conservative party has the capacity for a deep dive into their faults, they just blame everyone else and wait for ruling party fatigue to do the work they refuse too.
This article does a fairly good job of showing how there was no self reflection whatsoever in Byrne’s interview. Even winning campaigns will have regrets, but we’re supposed to believe that the biggest electoral downfall in Canadian history has none?

This was by far the most crazy part of the interview though, Byrne sees this and doesn’t see any problem with the story, while most ordinary people would have a different reaction. You don’t have to be pro-mandate to realize someone who’d rather be homeless than get a vaccine is out of their mind, and you don’t want to associate with those type of people. But Byrne just takes it in stride, which I think is the greatest indicator of how out of touch she is.
Everything points to Byrne being a one trick pony whose only idea is “let’s try the same message we used for the last three years that worked for the first two and caused us an embarrassing election loss when it actually mattered in the third”. There is absolutely no reason the CPC needs to be loyal to her or Poilievre in the long run.
Do the CPC and their supporters not realise that sticking with the likes of Poilievre and Byrne is not their way back to power in Ottawa?
