Just for reference – US Embassy (in London) is 48,128 sqm, and did not disclose details of internal layouts. Proposed Chinese embassy (in London) will be 20,000 sqm.
Whatever spying, influence or „intimidation“ an embassy can get up to, then the US Embassy is more than twice capable of doing it compared to China. I would trust China over USA, to be honest. China was not the one that manufactured consent for three military interventions in far away lands based on lies.
What were those lies that led to three wars/US military interventions? (1) Tonkin Incident (2) Nayirah Testimony (3) WMDs.

Redditors immediately out talking about the US embassy as though that has any bearing on the Chinese embassy with greyed out confidential parts to its submitted draft plans.

After all the espionage and hacking China has been responsible for over the last few decades, their diplomatic presence should be being scaled back substantially.
No excuse for this going forward whatsoever.
