They don’t exist to me. The worst trained baristas and the soup bowl sized mugs tell you everything. Crap coffee, crap food. Expensive

My guess is Coca-Cola are more interested in the merchandising, the canned coffee in supermarkets etc.
Not great but it’s better than Starbucks which is fucking dreadful.
My own any concern is that Costa is likely to be sold to a private equity firm.
Costa is toilet water however if they were to collapse, it likely result in our town centres being switched to more betting and vaping shops

I know companies always diversify but Coca-Cola owning Costa always look a bit odd to me. Coke seems incredibly brand heavy and asset light seems like a complete waste of time for them to run brick and mortar shops when they can keep making billions pumping sugar into water and selling it for £1.50
Man, I like Costa.
Not every shop has to be a quiet little bespoke place. Sometimes, it’s just quick and dirty. It knows what it is and doesn’t pretend to be anything else.
Will they charge the new buyer extra for fancy milk?
Why anyone goes to Costa/Starbucks etc when independent coffee places have better coffee and are cheaper. We have a few independents around here, all great coffee and all cheaper than Costa
And supporting independent who appreciate your money
Worked for Costa for a few years, and it’s always surprising seeing people slating the coffee. One of the few chains that actually gave a crap about the beans they used and the overall coffee standards. The problem is when you have a bunch of low paid, over-worked staff, then of course those standards are not going to be met consistently, which is why I guess it has the reputation it does.
If you get a decent barista making you a cup, it’s usually going to taste pretty good from my experience. Far better than the blackened death beans from Starbucks.
Everyone should continue to support your local independent coffee shops
As much as the coffee is sub-par, at least they (and the other big chains) are open early in the morning. Most independent coffee shops don’t open until after 9am.
I like Costa. My local independent is my favourite by far but if I’m travelling or outside my town I’ll use em cos I like the taste and I know what I’m doing to get.
People have different tastes, I hate Starbucks and Nero, they both taste burnt to me. There again I like my coffee as 99% milk and wave some coffee near it for a second or two so…
I don’t mind a Costa if there’s no alternative. I wouldn’t sit down in one though, they generally seem a bit too noisy for my liking and it’s takeaway or nothing. Fucking hate Starbucks and avoid like the plague. Their coffee just doesn’t taste good at all to me. I’ll happily admit to preferring an independent coffee shop over either of these though. I try to avoid chains in general and support the little guys.
I actually really like their Mochas, disappointing if this is it for Costa
I’d put Costa ahead of Starbucks or Nero personally, having said that Nero piss me off because they have an advertising slogan that is wildly inaccurate but their coffee is generally good.
Their beans are pretty good. They beat the shit they sell at Tesco and many other places.
They bought this and didn’t nothing with it, in fact in many ways just made it worse. I assumed them they bought it they would try to make it available absolutely everywhere there was a Cola fountain. Such a wasted opportunity
Only time I’ve used them was either to meet someone or when using hospitals, could never see the draw in paying that much for a drink I could bring a flask to work of otherwise. Thats just me though plenty swear by them

Same thing will happen that always happens, company buy it asset strip it, run up huge debts then insolvency and let the tax payer pick up the bill.
A cup of coffee in some places is almost £5. It’s so expensive nowadays. Investing in my own mug and machine is probably the way forward.
Its a shame all our stuff has to be owned by foreign multinationals. Why can’t it be British owned?
