      Good guy Romania, they could take Banat from Serbia/Yugoslavia during WW2, but they didnt.

      Personally I believe that after the fall of communism,Romania should have become a constitutional monarchy.The royal family are a big part of our history and King Michael himself was the one leading the diplomatic mission which got Romania in NATO.(without speaking about Queen Maria,thanks to which,Romania got Transilvania and other territories (mostly Romanian majority) after WWI,with her being present at Versailles)

      For some reason many Romanians see this as an act of treason, as him selling us to the Soviets… In fact what he did was brave and a good thing. He tried to avoid the country and its population being devastated by the Soviet invasion. Ofc it didn’t go smoothly, the Soviets arrested tens of thousands of Romanian soldiers who laid down their arms and sent them to Gulags from which they never returned. I think it was an act of bravery on his behalf and on behalf of the politicians who contributed to the plot. Its unfortunate that the Soviet-backed post-war government forced him to exile in 1947. When he tried to come back after the Revolution he was denied entry into the country as the new leaders wanted all the power and money to themselves, regardless of what happened to the country. Eventually he was allowed back but ofc he was no king anymore…

      Keep in mind that in August 1944 King Micheal was only 22 years old. Same age as me, which just commands my admiration. Also while Romania contributed to the Holocaust, the Royal Family (especially Micheal’s mother) did what they could to save as many people as possible. Thanks to their efforts, 300 000 romanian jews survived the war.
