Reports have emerged that the world’s first „pregnancy robot“ is under development in China. The robot is designed in a humanoid form and is equipped with an artificial womb in its abdomen, allowing it to carry a fetus for 10 months and give birth. The Chinese science and technology media outlet Kuai Ke Zhi reported on the 8th an interview with Zhang Qifeng, a PhD at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, who is developing the pregnancy robot. The pregnancy robot he envisions is not an incubator but a humanoid, with a womb in its abdomen that can replicate the entire process from conception to delivery.
The key to the pregnancy robot is the „artificial womb“ technology, where the fetus grows inside the artificial womb filled with artificial amniotic fluid and receives nutrients through a hose. Dr. Zhang noted, „The artificial womb technology is already in a mature stage, and now it needs to be implanted in the robot’s abdomen so that a real person and the robot can interact to achieve pregnancy, allowing the fetus to grow inside.“
Last I checked, fertility wasn’t the problem, the *economy* was: Why the hell would I want to date, marry and then bring people into a world adverse to seeing them as anything other than a product? We are constantly being paid less to do more, why should anyone *want* or be okay with this?

Scientist haven’t developed an artificial womb that can produce a live baby mouse. They aren’t going to sell robots that can produce a baby human next year, that hasn’t been invented yet.
Really sounds like a cover story. Really looking to solve the plunge in birth rates with state created children. OK it may not be that dystopian, but the thinking is if birth is painless and convenient more couples will have children. But if all else fails…

Someone said they have a thing that can do a thing. It’s totally a thing. Word.
Even if artificial womb technology was anywhere close — and it isn’t — there’s no reason to stick it in the abdomen of a humanoid robot. That’s just a ton of additional risk and cost for no clear benefit.
