Wow, it’s only been about an hour since I saw another „*government failing vulnerable children*“ story. And it wasn’t that long before I read about another group of vulnerable children that the government has failed as well. Sigh.
We voted for it. Countless government failings regarding healthcare, education, transport, and critically now housing to the point that government failing/incompetence seems to be regarded as expected and normal even in what we’re are told is the strongest economy in Europe. I’m convinced after the last election where carers were being dismissed and housing numbers being lied about that no matter the issue or scandal faced by FF or FG we will never see them out of government and they know it.
Shocking is an understatement!
My son was waiting maybe 4 years roughly, finally done last summer where it was denied despite nobody meeting him, or talking to the school or any more communication with me or his dad.
We appealed it, then just as it hit the six month limit for our appeal we were told they’d outsourced to a private clinic where he was eventually diagnosed with dyspraxia and autism.
The private clinic he was outsourced to were absolutely amazing the but the stress and anxiety we went through the last 4 years make me totally distrust the system
My poor child spent years being assumed as bold or just lazy because of the delays and he’ll never get those years back.
at what point do we blame the people who actually run the services? It’s their failing in managment.
Any government just won a popularity contest and in real terms just decide where our taxes are spent. We’re not short on money right now yet we let the HSE set fire to billions for these kinds of results.
It’s an easy narrative to blame a minister, but really heads should roll in the HSE over this. No government policy will solve their incompetence.
Healthcare being a “political issue” is distracting from the core problems in the system. We accept way too much gross negligence that is literally costing people their lives by turning it into “we voted for FFG…”..
No matter the party in power the HSE will still be run by the same people.
It took 14 years for my sister to get a diagnosis . They repeatedly refused , put her on back of lists , said they couldn’t pin point what it was she had , couldn’t get assisted technology as they didn’t diagnose her and so wasn’t entitled to it amongst many other things .
Only this year did she get her autism and adhd diagnosis , this is a child who couldn’t speak until the age of 7 and still cannot fully read and write . The system is an absolute failure and will break you down as you try and try to get support .
The people on the ground such as teachers and special needs support are the only good thing in the system and they try exponentially harder than anyone else to get your child support .
The government completely failing its citizens and inhabitants on yet another issue by not scaling up services and provisions in line with the excessively rapid population growth they’ve facilitated over the past decade. We simply can’t cope with how much and how quickly they’ve decided to grow our population given how incompetent they are and their total lack of innovation and investment in infrastructure. We’re heading for disaster as a society.
