      Back in the 90s, I spent an evening at this place and at about ten they had a power cut just as I was on the way to the jacks. Anyway, they couldn’t fix it easily so we were left in the dark for ages. Meantime, I needed to go, so feeling my way along, I got to where I thought the toilets were, then unzipped. At exactly that moment the light came back on and the whole pub saw me standing there in the corridor with the old feller out. What an embarrassment.

      Of the two nearest (or close enough to it) pubs to my home house one is a pub, convenience shop, and farm supplies seller, and the other is a pub, convenience centre, fuel station, and funeral home.

      Rural pubs have a long tradition of operating multiple smaller businesses, that would not be profitable in their small communities as stand alones, as additional revenue sources
