    1. Apple is raising the price of its streaming service. The company announced on Thursday that its $9.99 per month subscription will now cost $12.99 each month, marking a $3 price increase.

The price increase will go into effect immediately for new subscribers, while existing ones will see the changes reflected 30 days after their billing cycle ends, Apple spokesperson Tom Neumayr confirmed in an emailed statement to The Verge.

Apple isn’t changing the price of its annual $99 Apple TV Plus subscription, and the hike won’t affect its Apple One bundles, which start at $19.95 per month.

    2. Heh, I was about to kill off my subscription this week anyway because of the New York Mets playing on Friday Night Baseball for the last time this season. Good timing, Apple! Now I *really* have an incentive to cancel my subscription!

I’ve never paid for Apple TV+ but have somehow had a sub since it came out lol

    4. It’s the one streaming service that I can, still mostly assume, that anything I watch will be of high quality, even if I don’t like the specific storyline or plot. They are what HBO used to be.

I adore Apple TV but it’s very very very easy to run out of shit to watch- I ain’t paying for that regularly considering there’s almost no content. They would need to do what prime does and make some of their roster of buyable and rentable films free to really be competitive.

I’m good with this. Apple has amazing content. If any of y’all haven’t, I strongly recommend Slow Horses. Gary Oldman as always knocks it out of the park ✊🏽

    7. When it was $5 or $6 you could always be subbed and not think about it. But at almost 3x that price that’ll make people sub and unsub instead. They have smarter actuaries than me so it’ll probably work out for them.

    8. Apple used to be different, now it’s just like every other company… just perpetually disappointing

    9. Pretty sure other streaming services will be announcing a price increase soon

Got Apple One so it won’t affect me. But the moment the price for Apple One goes up because of Apple TV I will go. Cost of living crisis and they me thing they’re doing is increasing their prices even further? Consumers are pulling back and even they know this; they’re feeling it in their products too that less people are buying.

I would understand the price hike if there were tons of more content, but there isn’t. The top 10 shows and movies have been the same in the past two to three years.

Once I find a way to transfer all my media efficiently to my PC I will ditch Apple.

I think I’m going to cancel all my paid subscriptions except….

I don’t have time to watch that much content. I will keep premium YouTube as that appears to be all I watch lately.

I like apple TV but I don’t know if their library is anywhere near substantial enough to justify the pricetag.

If it’s not worth it, no one should buy it. If it is, they should.

I’m very happy with the products they create. I don’t love them all but enough.

They don’t have a lot of content.  For me it’s enough to subscribe to it every 6-8 months. Since there are so many services that’s my way to go anyway.
Subscribe services for a month and then move on.
      Prime is the only exception

    15. well F that noise. I will be cancelling.

I for one did not get a 30% increase in wages this year.

In fact I effectively make 10% less because I live abroad and I’m paid in US dollars.

I haven’t seen any emails from them. pretty shady that I’m not being notified and them explaining that I’ll be getting ’something‘ for the xtra charge.

Same price as the criterion channel with only a 3rd of the content!

(Seriously subscribe to the criterion channel, it’s worth it)

    17. If you subscribe for a month each year, you can watch all that’s good on Apple TV. There’s not enough content to justify a yearly subscription.

Glad I have t-mobile (it’s included). Don’t think I’ve watched anything on Apple TV+ since S3 of The Morning Show ended which was ages ago.

Might as well go back to cable at this rate. All streaming services aren’t worth it anymore
