Definitely would not shock me in the slightest, I said a few months ago it seemed like this might be coming down the pike before Nenshi and the NDP gain more traction.
There has also been recent successes in snap elections like Doug Ford’s, when he caught the opposition off guard and divided.
Still, snap elections can backfire – look at Jim Prentice.
It’s great timing for the premier. By going early, Smith can avoid the fallout out of the AHS procurement scandal, and avoid the federalism referendum.
The NDP are also making it a cakewalk for the premier. They’re so scared of their own shadow that they won’t propose any solutions to the problems Albertans are facing.
And their over the top pro Canada „Better Together“ campaign isn’t going to sway anyone who isnt already friendly to the NDP.
I think the silence is deafening, billions of dollars are about to start being moved .
Bill C5 doesn’t get enough credit and if I was the CPC and the UCP id be extremely nervous about the silence from Premiers and the corporations right now.
Carney and Hodgson are about to crack an egg that Harper could never Crack .
This is why Smith and Pierre immediately jumped to the northern Gate way talk with the bill for sabotage. They’re nervous. Canadas‘ success is a real threat to them and bill C 5 is slam dunk for Carney.
Snap elections should not be allowed when the gov has a majority! Calling an election because you are leading the polls is crazy.
