This isn’t a good deal for USA but will be celebrated as a success
Well…until Trump has a bad night, back pain or trouble pooping and decides to increase it again…..
And no doubt will change in 6 months when Trump Toddler changes his mind cos someone was mean to him.
The US as a stable guarantor to the global economy is dead as a doornail. Vital yes, but even when Trump dies I can’t see a sudden pivot back to normalcy anymore either.
chatting to friends in the business it appears that because there are existing contracts in place with hospitals etc, the pharma companies will have to absorb the 15%
until TACO changes his mind in a few weeks
There is a separate review process ongoing in the US which might lead to much higher tariffs.
THE US customer will pay the increased cost unless they buy American which wont be tarriffed. Very fucking hard to do with Pharma 😂

DT thinks he’s going to bring manufacturing home. Ironically the cost on manufacturing in the US is going up due to the tariffs themselves to the point 15% may be enough for offshore manufacturing to stay put.

I remember when the EU announced the deal, the press went into overdrive on how Ireland won because pharma wasn’t impacted, and other EU nations will be worse off than Ireland. Will any of them revisit that and see how those worse off countries are faring now? Trump won’t be around after 3 and a half years and pharma/med devices corporations won’t move operations back stateside but they will pause/slow plans in Ireland during political and economic uncertainty, and they may shed staff. That hurts us a lot, whether you want to believe it or not. The EU constantly patronises Ireland as a great ally and contributor but weren’t so quick to stand up for us here. It’s a poor deal for the EU as a whole but a terrible deal for Ireland.
Ireland has an unfair advantage because of our awful tax and employment law, or do we just complain about trump?
So trump decided to tax Americans 15% to buy pharmaceuticals from us, while the EU decided to tax their citizens 0%. don’t see the problem, it’s not like the yanks can buy from elsewhere. FFS, it takes 5 years just to move and certify a pharma production line from the EU to the US, so Trump will be gone before that.
