The optimistic part of me is extremely relieved. Anything to stall this admin massacring immigrants is good in my eyes

The pessimistic part wonders what they’re going to do with people already there. I doubt they’ll be safely returned to their homes

Watch as Trump thumbs his nose at said judge and openly ignores his ruling.

Half a billion dollars well spent. No waste or fraud in this administration.

    4. Good, the site was chosen just for the sake of cruelty. Right wing lowlifes on social media are gloating about mosquitoes and alligators. Disgusting.

Uh-oh you better get the cleaning crew out, there’s going to be a lot of ketchup on that wall

    6. This does NOT stop them from rebuilding the detention center in a different location. This was only because it was built in an environment that houses endangered species and they failed to do the proper checks when building it. They are simply going to use these 60 days to erect a new one and move everyone there.

    7. They opened it in like a week. So why not 72 hours to shut it down, overseen by some wholly different agency the judge deputized to do that?

      60?! Days?!

They’ll probably request hearing after hearing and getting extension after extension.

This ruling won’t stop anything – and the judge will be getting death threats

    10. It will eventually go to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to keep going.

However, this will bring a national spotlight in a more glaring way, which is probably beneficial for the Democrats in 2026.

Republicans are alienating so many demographics that were key to swinging Trump’s 2024 win that I’m not sure how they expect to get votes next year.

Let’s just release all the people there and put Trump, his collaborators, and all his brain dead supporters instead

    12. Let’s be real: Trump will say „no, fuck you,“ and carry on without consequence.

It’s worked his entire life and there’s no sign of it failing now.

Tax payer money well spent /s

But for real, glad to see that place will be gone.

Half a billion dollars of Florida taxpayer money well spent…..

No fed money. Ol Desantis footed the bill on the promise that he’d be paid back. lol

We need very detailed logs of everyone that went in and everyone who is coming out and what happened there.

This means absolutely nothing. Between the appeal process, and the fact that this ruling has to be enforced, it’ll be far longer than 60 days for this to get dealt with.

It seems like a pretty clear 8th and 4th amendment violation. But, the 2nd amendment is the only one that counts to these monsters.

    19. So who is going to prison if the facility is still open after 60 days? Otherwise, all of this is just a bunch of big talk.

    20. BallBearingBill on

What the hell was the long term plan for the detainees? Did they think that place would stay open under a democratic leader too?

      >Though her order does not prohibit the state from making repairs to the site, the most striking aspect of the order is her demand that the state begin removing all generators, gas, sewage, and other waste items that have transformed the airstrip into a detention center within 60 days, rendering the site uninhabitable. Williams said she expects attrition to make the stripping of the site safe.

What’s going to happen is MAGA is going to go „cool, sounds good to me“ and take away all of those things. Then when 60 days is up they’ll continue with the prison.

They don’t give a fuck how these people are living. MAGA will just paint a narrative that this judge made the living conditions worse and their version of the internment camp was like a fun beach spa.

They dont care all trumps friends got paid already. They profited at least 200 million dollars.

      Or what happens?

      Nothing.

I won’t hold my breath that the rule if law still exists.

    24. “The deportations will continue until morale improves”

Wow, what a fucking piece of shit.

    25. „The deportations will continue until morale improves.“

That’s the DeSantis administration’s official response. These are evil people. They’re enjoying this.

So, billions of dollars wasted. Well, America, you elected a convicted felon rapist who is on a pedophile pimp’s list of customers.

Speaking of which, where is the unredacted Epstein list?

    27. Wait for it to climb the court ladder and this decision will be overturned

Some fucking sanity. It’s existence has added stress to my life. Every article about it caused soul damage to me (and every American tbh). Having a concentration camp on American soil is fucking abominable. Everyone involved needs to go to The Hague. Next prez needs to sign up for the ICC. We obviously can’t fairly judge ourselves, and it’s destroying us.

    29. I feel like the reason it is called Alligator Alcatraz was a play by the Republicans to get ahead of an Alligator Auschwitz name. Because we all know that’s what they really intend it to be.

    30. The guy who puts people into an alligator prison wants to go to heaven. It’s deranged.
