Most of the drinking water in Dublin and its surrounding counties comes from that lake. I don’t think people or dogs are allowed to swim in it because it’s a reservoir, which means it can suddenly get very deep, have hidden machinery and strong underwater currents.
The same thing happened in Lough Guitane Killarney last year.
Is it the same kind of algae that’s riddled Lough erne and Lough neagh? I thought our lakes were cleaner than theirs?
