The blanket return-to-office policies many companies and govts are applying are just clearly nonsensical. Aside to it being expensive to maintain office space, and the added time/environmental impact of commuting, we have seen and experienced what it is to work better and for management and execs to somehow think the „old way“ is better is just baffling. Clearly an example where culture, especially amongst older folks, wins out over any sense of logic, facts, or data.

Very happy I’m at one of the few companies, apparently, who has their heels dug in on WFH being a huge boon for the company and the employees in it. At this point a RTO mandate would absolutely be a deal breaker, and thankfully I’m the sole source of knowledge on a few projects and I’d be more than happy to leave them hanging out to dry if they did the same to me with a sudden RTO policy.
