That’s what is called „American exceptionalism“. It’s quite exceptional for politicians of a country to disparage the sovereignty of another country and thinking that there won’t be any backlash from said other country.
Some people in the United States have been brainwashed into thinking that their country is the best in the world, and they can’t comprehend why anyone would not want to join it (even by force).
More and more, this mindset ressemble the one of people living in North Korea who have been forcefully disconnected from the rest of the world and are also brainwashed into thinking that their country (and their leader) is somehow a divinity.
Canada should put sanctions on legislators who are making these proposals. Start small: a blacklist that bans them from entry to Canada.
