Visited Hungary (Balaton area) last week as one of the stops on my mid-southern Europe vacation road trip. Found the land and people lovely, and had a great time there.
Also interestingly, contrary to the „anti-EU“ image of Hungary some seem to have, there were many EU flags displayed in towns, villages or even on private properties.
It doesn’t say how much money was stolen by Orbán and his friends. And that Hungary has become a russian satellite state.

I’m not saying Hungary is a contradiction, but it’s a „Catholic“ nation with no Catholic majority, a pluralist nation with only room for one group, and a republic that reveres it’s former Monarchy – going so far as to have its old Crown Jewels displayed in Parliament where they are ceremonially paraded around by a unit that is effectively a Republican Guard.
