Submission statement: As Russia and China look to the Arctic, the US and its European allies are largely unprepared and under-trained. The theater has several obstacles, both technological (radio interference, cold sapping batteries, freezing liquids damaging machines, etc.) and human (permanent daylight, cold weather, difficult terrain, etc.). While the West has been gearing up, it still largely relies on basic infantry and techniques – as of now, more modern techniques (e.g. drones) still don’t work.
