“The strike has ended,” Canadian Union of Public Employees said in a statement posted to social media. “We have a tentative agreement to bring forward to you.”
Nobody should work for free. Congratulations to the parties on bridging their differences at the bargaining table.
Now imagine this whole ordeal but without the government stepping in after 12hrs of the Union striking.
Probably the same outcome with less embarrassment.
I think people need to acknowledge Carney’s straight up rebuttal on his own Minister of Labour, he knows how bad this looks on the government’s part. This lede was buried by the media coverage on CUPE yesterday but when the dust settles I’m sure there’ll be more attention to this.
