Submission statement: Bolivia’s ruling left wing party lost the election overwhelmingly. The top 2 candidates, a center right figure, senetor paz, will face off against former president Quiroga in a run off. The ruling MAS (movement towards socialism) party came 6th with only 3% of the vote. Representing a resounding end to 20 years of socialist rule in Boliva.

IMO: boliva isnt even a regional power, but shows the shifting alignments of Latin american nations. The pink tide that started in the 2000s is losing steam. And much of the economic progress of the begining of the movement is failing. Bolivia is the 5th Latin american nation to see an incumbent leftist government fall in the last 2 years. With them generally being replaced by pro america, anti Russian and anti Chinese figures.
