Sadly all too true.

American conservatism has really shifted to an ideology without principles or beliefs. It’s main point of conservatism is in its opposition. Anti-lib, anti-deep state, anti intellectual, anti globalism. What is considered lib, or deep state, or globalist changes depending on what is expedient. The only constant is that there will be groups and institutions they scapegoat. It’s a really a mass movement of disgruntled Americans that are angry, but need to be told what to be angry at.

Somehow, MAGA has convinced itself that Ukraine is some kind of liberal loving, globalist promoting hegemon that needs to be opposed, and that towing the line of Russia is preferable to that.
