Meanwhile before the election every outlet seemed afraid to say more than one sentence about how tariffs really work.

And now on Facebook and whatnot there’s just a constant stream of posts talking about Trump being right again and we’re doing so well with the tariffs. …

It’s getting more and more difficult to blame Obama for this, but I’m absolutely certain that MAGA will give it a go.

      ***From Rolling Stone’s Peter Wade:***

Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows food prices have spiked by 2.9 percent since last July, and wholesale prices on fresh and dry vegetables increased by nearly 40 percent last month — the biggest increase in the last three years. And rising prices are likely to continue.

      Why?

      Donald Trump‘s tariffs.

We’re a little over halfway through the month and I’ve overshot my food budget. The local foodbank is overtaxed, and good old Christian charity is nowhere to be found.

I hope MAGA is proud they’re starving people with their idiotic decision making and clear lack of critical thinking.

    5. Add to the tariffs the government attack on migrant labor. The one-two punch seems to be aimed at consumers; not a whoopsie but a hahaha.

The painful irony is a lot of people voted in this administration thinking they’d lower prices.

    7. And they targeted workers across the entire supply chain, from farmland to storefront. Who’s going to produce and deliver that shit for that cheap now? Crickets… This admin’s so dumb, they can’t even do evil properly.

    8. hungry families can just have three groceries instead of thirty. why do you need thirty groceries?

Prices at Walmart wow good luck with that oh did I forget to say release the Epstein files.

Well, also because of ICE – they are removing labour, which will push the salary up

My partner’s food stamps benefits were reduced to literally $26. About 10% of what she got before. She tried reapplying thinking it was an error. I knew it was just cause there isn’t funding anymore. Idk how we’re gonna make it…

I haven’t heard a single news outlet talk about eggs anymore when that is all we’ve heard about getting up the election.

these trade wars are entirely of Trump and his henchmens creation

People are so stupid, unlike trade, the tariffs aren’t new money. It’s money already in the US going back to the government. It’s a tax on the American people and businesses. Yet they lap it up like trained seals.

Weird, the media and Republicans seem to no longer be concerned about this. I wonder what changed

Let them eat cake, right? But cake is now 200% more expensive, and 75% the original size.

MAGA be like it’s only been 7 months, he needs more time to lower the prices

    18. > According to the Consumer Price Index, prices for consumers have already risen on several foods. Prices have increased by 5.8 percent on meat, 3.1 percent on poultry, **16.4 percent on eggs**, and 14.5 percent on coffee

Instead of paying American wages, farm owners are perfectly happy with letting half their crop rot, collecting insurance money, and raising prices of what’s left.

The crop that has gone to rot was going to be exported anyway and isn’t competitive with tariffs. So, they git more money from the crop going to Americans, and as I said insurance money is worth more than exporting crop harvested by with American wages.

It makes zero sense for food prices to come down any time soon.

$368 for 2/3 of a cart of groceries. Will feed my family of four for a week.

How have flaired users justified high food prices today? Is it to own the libs or just to drain your wallet because I don’t see any win win situation when it comes to paying more for food

    22. And deportation, can’t sell what isn’t harvested or unprepared animals.

Can’t move into half completed structures

Oh, sorry your rooms not ready

Good. Nobody forced you all to vote for Trump, it was your own choice. And you got what you voted for.

Every serious economist in the solar system: “Capricious protectionist trade policies will raise prices”

Everyone in America: “These capricious protectionist trade policies are raising prices”

Trump: “My capricious protectionism is working!”

Media: “Let’s wait and see who’s right”

    28. shadowriku459 on

And his supporters will continue making excuses and licking his ass.

      Big surprise.

I had a decent paycheck this week because I worked a bit more than normal. Between groceries and one bill, it’s nearly gone. I haven’t lived paycheck to paycheck in many many years. It pisses me off to no end that I have worked as hard as I have to get to this point, and now I’m having to check my bank balance to make sure I can afford necessities.

I try to only buy food from the U.S. – mostly from local farmers markets and ranchers. Mostly good where / how I shop.

Every week, everything I need costs more. This is pure insanity.

Eggs are $10. Double than during the election when JD Vance was crying about ot
