Ein japanischer Himawari-9-Wetter-Satellit hat am 11. August 2025 ein volles Bild genommen, und der Mond späht in dieser Nahaufnahme über das Glied der Erde. Brechung durch die Erdatmosphäre verzerrt das Aussehen des Mondes. Das zweite Bild ist eine breitere Ansicht des vollständigen Bildes.

I love the atmospheric distortion of the moon at the edges there.
I had not thought of the atmosphere refracting light just like a glass or water but if the atmosphere slows down light, and we see magnified moonrises and sunsets then it is no wonder…
