I know we logically need to be diplomatic and welcoming to any leader visiting us, but it really does irk me that these documents refer to Putin as “his excellency” and that the intention was to host a high-end luncheon after everything he’s done with/to Ukraine

Not only are they using a standalone printer to print classified documents, they’re sloppy enough to leave them behind on the printer. These people aren’t capable of following the most basic SOPs.
Of all the various stupidities exposed by this document „mishap“… this one struck me as the most dispositive of the Trump administration, as a whole:

In 2025, at a summit ostensibly meant to end a war started by the man who has been president of Russia since 2012 and who has been ceaselessly reported on in virtually every single news source – someone in Trump’s stable of „those ***best people***“ thought it was necessary to instruct someone on the president’s staff on how to pronounce that perpetual tongue twister name, „Putin.“
We really, really ought to know which of the stellar participant(s) in this „summit“ required that sort of hint…

People seem to think this meeting was about the war with Ukraine. Treasury and Commerce don’t have anything to do with war. This was Trump getting advice from Putin on how to rob the US blind of it’s national assets the same way Putin did to Russia. Trump doesn’t want to fight Putin. He wants to be Putin.

Can they lose the gaslighting assertion that the people in this administration are there “based on merit”? They are the most reckless, unserious, incompetent, sloppy and therefore most dangerous people ever to lead our country.
At this point the incompetence feels deliberate so I ask once again – who makes the call on who is a domestic enemy to our country? Because that call needs to be made.

It’s disturbing that Jeffery Epstein’s next door neighbor (aka Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick) was in this meeting and he is always by Trump’s side with a smirk.
Trump is an absolute lap dog to this murderer. It’s one thing to be “friendly”, but to roll out the red carpet!? Clap for him in front of the press corps?! Let him speak first, took no questions, cancelled lunch! Just wow. I thought the Helsinki meeting was bad, this was humiliation on a WHOLE NEW level.

If you speak to a republican about any current „wtf!?“ topic, begin by phrasing it as „hey did you know that Biden [did this thing that Trump just did] while he was president?“ They will absolutely lose their shit, and go on about how terrible it is. Then you say „oh wait, sorry, I was mistaken it looks like Trump actually just did that.“
They WILL move the goalposts, and do whatever mental gymnastics they have to, to suddenly make it a *good* thing because Trump did it, not Biden. BUT, it plants a seed. Even if it subconsciously. It makes them aware of the situation in a way they wouldn’t otherwise be. They have to doubt and second-guess themselves, even if it’s just for a moment. Keep doing it. Keep planting that same seed. Keep making them momentarily cast doubt on their beliefs.
I am sorry if you have to interact with republicans often enough for this to be useful. Avoiding them altogether is always the better choice, but unfortunately, sometimes that isn’t an option.
