Well, I don’t think the Vice President of the Bundestag decides this. If they want to join, they’re obviously welcome to apply, but I don’t think they want to do so.

The delulu is strong in this one 😀 As is Switzerland wanted to join 😀

    3. They haven’t asked to join, so why would any one care what a German politician says about it…

So, today I’ve read of the possibilities of Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Greenland joining the EU – and that’s on top of Armenia and Ukraine.
Since 2022 NATO gained 2 new members in Sweden and Finland.

If the result of putin and trump’s actions is EU gaining 6 new members (or 7 if Georgian people are somehow successful to remove their illegitimate government)… Plus stronger ties with Canada. That’d be an interesting result of all that’s happened over these last years.

I’m not pretending to know what’ll happen, that’s not my point either – it’s about the fact we’re even seriously discussing these again. But the possibility is sure as hell peculiar, and surely not what either of those 2 criminals wanted

PS if we went total delulu fever dream – imagine if UK rejoined as well. For a huge and unnecessary price of all of it, but Europe would certainly be stronger than before

    5. Since no one bothers to read the article before writing snarky remarks, here is his quote :

„If our Swiss friends want to move closer to the European Union in these new times, Germany should actively support this,“

    6. The average opinion in Switzerland is that the current relationship is ideal. The EU and Switzerland work together in a lot of areas and have green borders with each other.

Perhaps we could spend some more time and energy on reforming and improving the EU rather than just expanding it. We’ve done nothing else for 25 years now.

    8. Shouldnt there first be a meeting of, idk Ghandi and Xi, in ehm *looks at globe* Isle of Man be before this can become a reality?

As usual Redditors are incapable of reading the article and act as though Nouripour demanded that Switzerland join the EU

    10. Muahahahah, Vice president of Germany is out of depth.

Pretty sure the Swiss would rather declare Belgian chocolate to be superior than join the EU.

Why would they join when the EU can’t even solve crisis in its own backyard and lets Putin and Trump take advantage of us?

    11. I have no problem with the Swiss joining the EU and devaluing their currency and making access around Basel airport easier. Please remind me what the benefits are for the Swiss?

    12. Need some new stream of revenue to pillage from?

Swiss people don’t want to join the EU and it’s a great thing, given that everything works just fine for Swiss people without EU.

    13. As a Swiss: Never gonna happen – and rightfully so.

If you ask me personally, I would be open to join NATO instead. But this will also not happen because of „neutrality“.

Moving closer is not entry into EU my god, we just recently abolished the bilateral agreements and are working on a new set. I like the EU and do not understand all the fuss, but joining is unnecessary.

Switzerland should be EU but we need some policies to balance in benefit.

Looks like the country will be forced to embrace mass immigration.

Switzerland doesn’t need the EU at all, they’re doing great without it. I even think they would lose more than they gain by joining the EU.

    18. I don’t think Switzerland asked about to be part of EU, maybe just me. That would lose their placement high up on the world’s despots‘ banking list, ass well as billionaires.
