Very fortunate people aged 22-59 don’t have this issue.
What about me? My commute to London via train costs £750/month. And my train has been on time a grand total of three times since January. Thanks GWR!

She wants working people to pay for her travel so she can buy „a Juicy Couture tracksuit“. And this is on top of subsidised travel already for a condition that doesn’t affect her ability to walk…

Well don’t buy snacks, bring them in. But it speaks to a fundamental misalignment of priorities if, in an interview, you state your difficulty in buying snacks because you hungry at the same time as complaining about not having enough money.
The Gracie Moore anecdote is weird. £120 a month on travel is £6 a day, or £3 per journey, which is the rate. I mean, if you’re working then commute costs are something we have to take into account, right? I dont like spending £300 a month of public transport but thats the reality of my situation.
Another group of people wanting a hand out, don’t worry 23 – 65 year olds will pay for it, like everything fucking else.

What about the people who graduate and lose access to a student travel discount ticket? They’re looking for jobs and lose the discount and income from the maintenance loan. They are mostly 22 and over.
Under 21s are paid less, it’s unfair. Bus travel should be cheaper for everyone, but I know multiple people who would have benefitted from free bus travel- even getting to college with a travel bursary still wasn’t enough for a lot of us
They’ve free public transport in Luxembourg. The sheer amount of money private companies would lose because of it means it won’t happen. Free public transport should be a thing in any civilised 1st world country.
There’s a very good case for making public transportation free.
* It makes bus operations faster and more efficient
* it is a very potent way to reduce inequalities
* it disincentivizes car (major impact on pollution), reduces traffic and thus make bus operations even better
I struggle to have sympathy for people complaining about bus fare these days, as before I could drive (2018) I was paying £11 a return ticket to get anywhere. it being £6 today is an absolute bargain, and I wasn’t on that good a wage so it did hoover up a decent chunk of my wages.
Council Tax and utility bills eat my budget.
The government must do something
I want all my bus fares from being under-22 refunded if this comes to pass.
I’m amazed at how much free stuff and money people want. I work full time, don’t drive so use public transport. I also have other bills like council tax that eat into my budget. I even pay my own rent. Not sure why I’m bothering tbh. Couple of years holiday on UC might be in order.
It’s insane how expensive public transport is.
I can do 150-200 miles for under £5 in my car, two single fares on my local busses costs £5, a train (return) to a city 100 miles away is £30-50
2 hours each way in Coventry, I’m not sure how that is possible to be honest.
City College is in town basically, and the city isn’t massive. Warks College in Leamington would be a push for 2 hours also
