    1. The data source is: United Nations, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division. World Population Prospects: The 2024 Revision. (Medium variant)

You can find a live version here: [https://www.populationpyramid.net/population-projections/belgium+france+germany+italy+netherlands+poland+romania+spain+ukraine+united-kingdom/](https://www.populationpyramid.net/population-projections/belgium+france+germany+italy+netherlands+poland+romania+spain+ukraine+united-kingdom/)

If I am reading this correctly then Italy, Spain and Poland are fucked.

It would be great if world population got back to 1-2 billion like it has been for most of history.

Yesterday in Spain, temperature records were broken by 2 degrees, when the climate targets were 1.5 degrees within 25 years. This is devastating tourism, which will move further north. Furthermore, the average salary is currently equal to the rent, making it impossible for young people to have children. Climate change and living conditions are going to devastate southern Europe.

Up to this point, UN projections (about fertility) have always been too optimistic. It may be even worse than this.

    6. Notice that for readability, this only includes the 10 largest countries of Europe (in 2024)

    7. It was exactly graphs like these that caused the current housing crisis in Germany. 20 years ago they estimated a shrinking population, so they decreased the number of new housing projects. Guess what, Germany grew by 4 million people, and now housing is unaffordable and hard to find.

    8. It’s ok, maybe all the immigrants will only convert us to space Islam like in Dune.

    9. 50 year long population predictions are pretty worthless. Population growth is exponential and the certainty of growth rate prediction is strongly decreasing with every decade of projection length. There can be massive and sudden changes in the growth rate due to currently completely unforeseeable events.

It is really like looking at the bottom of your tea cup. Doesn’t matter if the UN is doing it or anyone else. Would you give the weather prediction for the 1.10.2100 and the precipitation amount on that day much consideration?

    10. So basically, with the possible exception of Ukraine, any drop in population over the rest of the century won’t even offset the growth over the last century. People make such a fuss over nothing.

    11. I dont buy the projections for one second. With the falling birthrates we should probably be dropping more than that but we shouldn’t see THIS many flat lines at the end.

Long-term economic projections have the only value of making astrology seem trustworthy

With Russian catastrofic defeat Europe will get its new wave. Cheap resources, large undevelopped market. Europe should follow real-politic trends, so loved by Putin amd Trump. End of Russian – will mean prosperity for Europe.

My concern is that Europe will be flooded with Indians everywhere since they are the only ones growing massively.

Unless the German economy collapses, the population will continue to grow. The last government already announced its intention to increase it to at least 90 million, and there is no reason to believe that the current government will deviate from this course.

This graph says we are never going to hit 20 million wich as this point is bullshit

    17. This can’t be updated, Spain is already on 49,1 so almost 1,3 million over that value.
