Fascinating, thanks.  Fucose really is an amazing sugar. Differences in fucosylation are involved in so many major disease.  Roche would not be Roche as we know it today without buying up the discovery that fucosylation of monoclonal antibodies significantly impacts their potency by orders of magnitude. The point being here that a small sugar like fucose can have massive impacts on large amounts of biology.  I have no doubt that genetic variation in fucosylation correlates with disease. It’s already a well known hallmark sign of cancer.
