But I actually think there is very low but non-zero chance that Trump arrests Putin and Lavrov in Alaska. He just might be impulsive enough to do it, and he’d *love* to parade Putin around in shackles and give himself a hero of the world award.
I know, Russia has nuclear armed subs…but would they use them? Lavrov might, but he’d be detained. How about current president Mikhail Mishustin?

I think he’d much rather inherit the throne than start nuclear war. I think a lot of Russians most powerful people would love to see him gone. It’s possible that US intelligence has been working with Russian assets on setting this all up. It’s also possible that the NSA did a stuxnet-esqe magic spell and Russia can’t actually fire their nukes, but don’t know it. Or that the assets we’ve recruited are in on it.
Do I think this will happen? No. Mostly I just want to say I called it if it does. This would be one of the most upvoted comments ever.

Best case scenario is that Trump actually will help, if only he is sure he can make it into a sufficiently good story for himself. He has been talking about that Peace Price.. (insane idea)
I doubt he can do anything even if he wanted to though, Putin is more experienced, more informed and more intelligent than Trump. He is a dick, but he is competent at what he does. I really doubt Trump is able to pressure him in any way.
