    1. A lightsaber fight between a wizard and the devil in a Hollywood blockbuster shown at full speed would really be unbelievable, I agree.

      Another thing to keep in mind is that most films, especially of that time, were shot at 24fps, so certain actions might look goofy even if being performed in real-time by real people.

    3. I think it was more because it could’ve been harder to follow if they sped up. Lights flickering everywhere and all.

      Why is this framed like it’s a new revelation? I’m pretty sure someone (if not McGregor himself) says so in either the DVD commentary or an interview shortly after the Phantom Menace premiered.
