Die texanischen Demokraten zurückkehren, nachdem Gouverneur eine Sondersitzung beendet hat, die eine Umverteilung beinhaltete, heißt es in Quellen.

Seems dangerous. I would put money on them being arrested and dragged into the capital in chains, with that somehow counting as quorum re-established.

    2. Won’t Abbott just call a new special session after they return? And then make sure they can’t leave again?

Maybe the Repubs in TX finally did the math and realized that if they got rid of Blue districts in TX, Blue states would follow suit and get rid of the Red districts in their states, resulting in a net loss of Red seats nationally.

Bunch of cowards. Democrats always have no spine. We have literal fascists taking over the nation and they do performative politicking. Great job!

As soon as they return a new session will be called and then the GOP will redistrict. Then when a few blue states complain and say they will do the same, the House will pass a bill banning it. Viola, instant cheating. Good job you useless fecks! Way to rollover because you got yours! This is how and why fascists win folks. Too many cowards that stand for nothing.

If we want to return to a functioning democracy, we need to be in the streets on general strike. NOW!

Odds on them being arrested once in the state? I’m going to say they odds are pretty high.

    6. People are saying that Abbott will just have them dragged to the capital in chains to force the vote.

Guys, if he’s willing to do that wouldn’t it be easier and less of a fuss for him to just rule that their seats are vacant and that means they don’t need them to vote?

If he’s at the point of kidnapping people and holding them against their will it’s pretty silly to think he’s still going to worry about procedures like getting a quorum.

    7. Abbott will call another special session as soon as they return. And this time they’ll have the Gestapo waiting to arrest them. It’s a fucking trap, idiots!!!

    8. They will come back. They will let it happen. They got their moment in the spotlight and more importantly for the Democratic party they got that sweet precious fundraising in. I got so much spam text asking me to donate to them the last several days it is ridiculous.

The way I see it, if Republican policies were so good for this country, Republicans would be running on their record instead of having to gerrymander to get votes.

    10. Everyone hold your horses. The first special session is over on Friday and that is when Texas Dems will return: after they successfully killed the first session. However, they say their plans are fluid and they will plan on leaving and breaking quorom again if Texas Republicans attempt another corrupt special session. The fight is not over!

Here is a better article by another abc about it: https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/texas-democrats-return-after-governor-ends-special-session/story?id=124592449

What I’m worried about is if Texas Republicans are better prepared and have Dems detained somehow before they can break quorom.

    11. Surprise surprise. Cowardly capitalists capitulating to fascism. I’m utterly shocked. Shocked, I say.

They’re risking arrest. If they don’t think that, they’re naive.

Well now that California is going to redistrict they have no reason to hold out. Go home and see if Abbot still wants to do it knowing it’s all for nothing. Go ahead and risk spreading your GOP districts so thin that in a wave the gerrymander gets cracked, while Cali picks up an additional 5 seats. Now suddenly it’s high risk, low reward for Texas and Trump.
