Maxime Bernier has the political instinct of a toddler. The guy campaigned against Mass immigration in 2019, then shifted to Covid Vaccines conspiracies when mass immigration became an issue.

There always been a tension in Quebec sovereignty between right-wing types like Bernier seeking to preserve a certain sense of Quebec identity and left-wing types like Francoise David seeking an independent Quebec that would preserve and strengthen its social model and resistance to neoliberalism while embracing multiracialism (but not „multiculturalism“). Will be interesting to see how the two coalesce this time.
