My latest: China said it hopes all those with a stake in the Russia-Ukraine war would play a role in the peace negotiations, as U.S. President Donald Trump prepares for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.

Last thing China wants, is that Russia and the US become allies. It would be a geopolitical disaster as Russia and the US would both have a stronger position against China, basically surrounding them north, east and west.

It’s got nothing to do with not involving Ukraine/Europe in peace talks.

Of course, there was *already* a „lasting and binding peace“, but then Putin shat on it.
      As he likely will again.

Makes sense that they would meet without the EU and Ukraine, that way Trump can meekly whimper about how bad Putin makes him look, and Putin can show him some still photos and remind him just how completely he owns him without unnecessary interference.

A despicable excuse for a human being and a joke across the entire world. Put him in jail where he belongs.

That’s what a real negotiator does, exclude one side from the talks. Much easier to form a consensus that way.

I believe it’s possible that the us government is unaware that they have a security agreement with Ukraine. I am not being sarcastic.Don bacon republican congressman from Nebraska said in cbc interview Monday Aug 11:

“If Ukraine ever has to give up any territory to get peace then they should have security guarantees from the US and other NATO countries so that Russia knows they cannot just renew this war next year”

Ukraine already has security guarantees from the us and Russia not to invade.

      Just prior to this statement:

“Russia has changed their borders 9 times since 1991”

      The security agreements are worthless.

Yeah, let’s just leave it to the aggressor in the conflict and his child-raping American henchman to sort it all out. Makes total sense.

    10. Of course China wouldn’t want a white axis lined up against them. But they aren’t ready to punish Putin for dividing spheres of influence with Trump, either.
